Have you heard of the Dirty Dozen? It is a list that outlines the 12 fruits and vegetables containing the most pesticide residue. It makes sense that those we first have to peel to eat (aka ‘Clean Fifteen’) have less residue than those we bite into or pop into our mouths as is.
Buying organic is not always an option so be sure to wash the ‘Dirty Dozen’ well before eating (a solution of four parts water to one part plain white vinegar is recommended for a thorough wash).
