Large YOLO Compost Tumbler prototype update

After Decorex in August, I brought the prototype of our large YOLO Compost Tumbler home to experiment with the contents. I also aim to work through my never-touched-for-three-years compost heap, maturing the material in my YOLO until I have worked through the heap.

Butternut seeds germinating in my YOLO Compost Tumbler – even with tumbling. It’s a warm, moist and nutrient-rich environment for them. I should try this with some of my flower seeds as I’m having little luck with them (probably because I don’t water them often enough!).

Composting sawdust

My dad came to visit yesterday and he brought me a gift – a few bags of sawdust from a sawmill near his home (he says they have mountains of the stuff!).

First B&B to order a YOLO Compost Tumbler

Bayside Lodge & Villas in Plettenberg Bay is the first B&B to order a YOLO Compost Tumbler. In serving breakfast for their guests, they generate organic waste like fruit, veggie peelings and egg shells which they would like to compost for their garden.
