Improving your composting skills

I am having a blast watching John Kohler’s energised videos on compost tumbling on his YouTube channel “GrowingYourGreens“. Passionate about compost tumbling, Kohler could be my brother-from-another-mother. Hahaha. This is what I’ve enjoyed from his video “How to Make Better Compost by Improving Your Composting Skills“.

The #1 reason why your compost is not composting

I’m new to John Kohler’s Youtube Channel “GrowingYourGreens” and I’m delighted to have been directed here by a YOLO customer. Kohler is an avid veggie gardener and composter and he favours using compost tumblers. In this short video “#1 Reason Why Your Compost is Not Composting” Kohler solves 99% of all composting issues.

Large YOLO Compost Tumbler prototype update

After Decorex in August, I brought the prototype of our large YOLO Compost Tumbler home to experiment with the contents. I also aim to work through my never-touched-for-three-years compost heap, maturing the material in my YOLO until I have worked through the heap.

Germinating seeds in my YOLO

Butternut seeds germinating in my YOLO Compost Tumbler – even with tumbling. It’s a warm, moist and nutrient-rich environment for them. I should try this with some of my flower seeds as I’m having little luck with them (probably because I don’t water them often enough!).

Zelda’s YOLO

I met Zelda and her husband Leigh at Decorex. She is an avid gardener and composter with very large property and a series of compost heaps, leaf bins and bokashi bins. They bought a green-orange medium YOLO Compost Tumbler for their kitchen waste and they’re waiting for our large units to become available.

Our new colours are amazing

We moulded and sent off YOLO Compost Tumblers this week in our new colours – earth and grey. These, paired with our existing colours, make good-looking combinations.

Two new colour additions: grey and earth

Decorex SA was such an exciting adventure for us and we loved speaking to you. We learned that many people living in complexes are restricted from having items that go against the colour scheme of the estate. Responding to this, we’re introducing TWO new colour options
