I never fail to be impressed by how ‘forgiving’ composting is.
Last week we had an afternoon where we got 15mm of rain. I’d been working in the garden – tying supports for my tomatoes, trimming and tumbling my YOLOs. I’d left the lid of the one large unit open at some stage, got distracted, forgot about the lid being open and only after the downpour did I remember. My nearly-ready compost was soaked! Arrrgggghhh!!!
Fast forward a few days after adding in a load of dry materials and tumbling more regularly and my mix is back to where it should be and smelling earthy again. Phew!
