Biodegradable plastic shopping bags are not all they’re touted to be… That a bag is ‘biodegradable’ does not make it ok for it to be discarded as litter or in landfill. These bags need oxygen and sunlight to degrade the plastic but in landfill, buried under tons of trash, they are exposed to neither (much like organic waste fro kitchens and gardens that ends up in landfill).
The solution is simple. Take along your own reusable, fabric shopping bags.
